We need your help. Freenotes is listening to your requests. For years educators and administrators have been asking us to provide a music curriculum for our instruments. We have now gathered an experienced team to do this and would like feedback from you to help us design a product that is useful and on task.
The Glass Imbarimba is a unique musical design combining the elements of two classic African instruments: the marimba (a resonated xylophone) and the kalimba (a thumb piano). These notes are arranged in the layout of the kalimba with long bars in the middle and short bars on the ends. This allows both hands equal access to the upper and lower notes. The instrument can be wall mounted or set on a sturdy stand. The bars made of fiberglass are entirely weather proof and able to withstand hard use.
The Glass Imbarimba is pentatonic, this makes playing effortless. The notes of the Pentatonic scale all harmonize with one another, so there are no discordant notes - ideal for a musical playtime!
Part of the key to the Glass Imbarimba's rich sound is its resonators. These tubes are situated directly below each bar and the length varies according to the frequency that the bar produces. Vibrations from the bars resonate as they pass through the tubes, which amplify the tone in a manner very similar to the way in which the body of a guitar or cello would.
This instrument can be wall mounted. The notes are entirely weatherproof and able to withstand the wear and tear of children at play.
The Glass Imbarimba is also supplied with one pair of durable mallets, made to withstand the outdoor elements, that are attached to the instrument with coated steel cables.
Please note that photos of our instruments may show slight variations in the style of some instrument components. Not all styles are available in all countries and some are custom made for specific clients. Please contact us if you have any questions about the individual component styles available in the US.
